`Birthday Boy' Honored in Britain

"Birthday Boy", by local director Park Se-jong, has been selected as this year's best short animation by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA).

Park's 10-minute film tells the story of a child who was orphaned during the 1950-53 Korean War. The short is also up for best short animation at this year's Academy Awards, the first Korean film to be nominated at the event.

Hollywood blockbuster "The Aviator" by Martin Scorsese took home four awards at Saturday's BAFTA ceremony, including the best picture and best supporting actress. "Vera Drake", a low-budget British drama about an abortionist, shared best picture honors with "The Aviator".
